Join us for an exciting, hands-on session exploring bridges, railways and the incredible engineering of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Using Pendon’s detailed models, children will investigate how railways were built across difficult countryside, discover why different types of bridges were needed, and explore the materials that made them strong and stable.
Through practical challenges, observation, role play and movement activities, children will become engineers, experience what life was like for the ‘navvies’ who built the railways, and learn how a steam train works. It’s an engaging way to bring history, science, geography and design technology to life.
This is a hands-on session led by our Learning Officer, followed by time to explore the museum with a specially designed activity book for you and your child to complete together. It is designed for ages 5+ (KS1 & KS2) and is limited to 10 students.
